Visit Amsterdam's tourist attractions and other sights in Holland
The city of Amsterdam has a lot to offer for all types of tourists and of all ages. Many sights are within walking distance of eachother and attractions further away are easy to reach with public transport systems. On this site we have compiled a list of fun things to do in the city of Amsterdam. Of course there is more to discover in Holland if you are willing to travel a bit further. So we have also listed popular places worth visiting.

Popular Attractions

Canal Boat tours
Probably one of the most popular things to do in Amsterdam. The boats depart from a centrally located dock near Central Station. The tour takes about an hour or so and goes through the canals of Amsterdam where you can see the historic houses and houseboats people live on.

Amsterdam Bike tours
Do as the dutch is the idea here. Getting around by bike is easy and fast plus it's good exercize. There are several companies that offer tours.

Heineken Experience
The Heineken Experience is a self guided tour of approximately 1,5 hours. You can go in any time during opening hours and our staff will tell you all about the beer along the way!

De Westerkerk en Westertoren (Church monument)
The Westerkerk is a church monument that's open to the public between 11am and 3pm, six days a week (closed on Sundays).

Amsterdam Dungeon
A place where you can experience terrifying moments taken from dutch history.

Begijnhof (the Beguinage)
Begijnhof is a historic group of buildings. The exact history of this sight can be found on the website.

Artis Zoo
Easy to reach and not too far.

Red Light District
Just around the corner from de boat tour dock you can find the Red Light District and the sex museum

Floating flower market
The floating flower market is a permanent market where you can buy flowers and souvenirs. The stalls are build on floating boats in the canal. Location: Singel 1013, Amsterdam. Open 7 days a week

Dam Square
Centrally located in the heart of Amsterdam with National Monument Statue and Royal Palace. Close to main shopping streets and Madam Tussauds.

The Royal Palace
Located on Dam square. You can go on tours to visit the inside.

Vondelpark
Great park to relax

Museumplein (museum square) and the i am amsterdam letters
Great place to relax and take pictures. Located behind the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum.

Zaanseschans
Pitoresk neighborhood close to Amsterdam with typical historic houses, mills and first Albert Heijn store. Also includes wooden shoe shop.

Windmills
There are at least 8 mills in Amsterdam and one that you can visit inside. Outside of Amsterdam at Kinderdijk there are more mills to see in green surroundings.
