Amsterdam Gay Pride is a yearly returning festival that lasts for a week. The highlight is the parade of boats on the canals with music, costumes and dancing. This year the parade will be held on Saturday August 6th 2011 starting at 14:00. The boats will start sailing from Westerdok (close to the botel in Amsterdam North) on to the Prinsengracht and further through the Amstel and Oude Schans. The boats will end at Oosterdok around 6.00 p.m.  Below is a map of the route. As you can see the route for the most part goes through the most outer canal named Prince’s Canal (Prinsengracht ). Be on time to get a good view of the parade. Hotels overlooking the Prince’s Canal are Hotel Pulitzer, Wiechmann Hotel, Dikker en Thijs Fenice Hotel. Hotels with a view of the Amstel are The Bridge Hotel and the Eden Hotel.
